The vine

  • Plot /climat

    Noizons and Petit Noizons

  • History

Pommard, regarded as "the flower of the wines of Beaune" since the Middle Ages, has always been synonymous with powerful, aromatic wines with great aging potential. Petits Noizons and Noizons are located upstream of the Premier Crus and rank among the finest "villages" of Pommard. The Lulune spring runs near Les Bas de Saussilles, right on the border between Pommard and Beaune.

  • Soil

Clay-silty soil with a red appearance due to the presence of iron oxide. A strong presence of dolomitic rock (limestone infused with magnesium and calcium). Most of the time, the blocks are broken down and have integrated into the marls and ferruginous clays, which are also characteristic of the Noizons soil.

The wine

  • Description

100% Pinot Noir from handpicked grapes ; raised in oak casks.

  • Taste

With a dark red colour, the nose is deep with a complexe range of aromas ripe: red fruit, sweet spices. The palate is powerful and sound. While aging the « sauvages » aromas will get more and more remarkable as the wine will be at it's best.

  • Serving temperature

15/16°C. It is recommended to decant recent vintages so as to enhance the aroma.

The vintage

  • The mild Winter meant that vegetation growth started early; we began debudding mid-April and with fine sunny weather the vine developed and flourished gradually in good conditions. The Summer was very dry which accelerated the maturing process with a lower yield but a high aromatic concentration for the Pinot Noir grape; for the Chardonnay however, the conditions were satisfactory for both growth and maturity. The grape harvest commenced on 20 August. The red wines are deep, bright in colour, they reflect red fruit together with full and elegant tannins.
