The vine
Plot /climat
Les Chardannes, Les Combottes, Les Bas-Doix
History
Les Chardannes derives from "chardons" (thistles), once found in the area. In Les Combottes, the ground was originally hollow ("combotte" = small combe). Doix comes from the Old French word for "water conduit," which explains why the plot is perfectly drained.
Soil
Les Chardannes and Les Combottes have rather deep clay soils. In Bas-Doix, the soil is thinner and stonier, located upstream from a pond.
Our plot(s)
These plots are located at the bottom of the slope. Les Bas-Doix lie just below Les Amoureuses and Les Hauts-Doix, close to Clos Vougeot. Les Chardannes are further north of the village, below Bonnes Mares.

The vintage
- March was sunny and budburst happened too early. 5th of April frost made big damages in Puligny. Flowering occurred lately, with wind and rain, many flower aborted, confirming a low yield vintage. Fortunately, summer was hot and dry, enhancing maturation and sugar concentration by the end of summer. Harvest started 13th of September. White wines are generous and fruit driven, but high acidity gives a good concentration and length. Red wines benefited from the hot summer with a complex bouquet and round tanins.
