The vine

  • Plot /climat

Petits Noizons et Bas de Saussilles

  • History

Pommard, regarded as "the flower of the wines of Beaune" since the Middle Ages, has always been synonymous with powerful, aromatic wines with great aging potential. Les Petits Noizons are located upstream of the Premier Crus and rank among the finest "villages" of Pommard. The Lulune spring runs near Les Bas de Saussilles, right on the border between Pommard and Beaune.

  • Soil

Clay-silty soil with a red appearance due to the presence of iron oxide. A strong presence of dolomitic rock (limestone infused with magnesium and calcium). Most of the time, the blocks are broken down and have integrated into the marls and ferruginous clays, which are also characteristic of the Noizons soil.

The wine

  • Description

100% Pinot Noir from handpicked grapes ; raised in oak casks.

  • Taste

The wine is dark red in colour and with an aroma of sweet red berries, mildly spiced; it is warm and round on the palate, with delicate tannic hints and long aftertaste.

  • Serving temperature

15/16°C. It is recommended to decant recent vintages so as to enhance the aroma.

The vintage

  • At last ! Following several vintages hit by serious hailstorms (2012,13,14) 2015 started with mild, dull but early march faire conditions. Several dry and sunny periods and rainfalls at the right time accompanied paced the development of vegetation ; hot summer, the grapes were ripe and sound by the 1st of september for a great harvest. The wines are dark and shiny in coulour with very fine aromas of red fruit slightly candied. The taste is intense and of an exceptional finesse.
